A group of astronauts (in s&m outfits?) receive a distress signal to reach a barren planet to commit a rescue mission. When they get there, they are murdered one by one. Sound familiar? Yeah, Alien is an incredible movie, but it wasn’t that original was it? Counting this and It The Terror From Beyond Space. Still nothing against Alien. Moving on, when they reach the planet, all the members of the ship are possessed by evil invisible vampire spirits intent on leaving the planet and preserving the race. This movie is excellent, one of Mario Bava’s best, featuring his typical brilliant production design and use of lighting. The acting is tacky as hell but fitting for the story. A perfect gem that inspired what was to come.
