100 Years Of Torture

The movie takes place in four periods: the first, a group of female Christians are raped and crucified in 18th century Japan. The second deals with a man who beats his cheating wife and her lover. The third, and the most interesting, is set in WW2 where inquisition soldiers torture, rape and abuse female traitors, and the fourth story deals with soldiers raping and abusing suspected female spies.
This movie should have been called 100 Years of Rape, it would have been more accurate. I was genuinely disappointed with this film, since I expected so much more, especially since it was directed by the great pinku eiga director Koji Wakamatsu (Go, Go Second Time Virgin, Violent Virgin, Notorious Concubines). It seems like the budget was reduced to the size of an after school special. The movie contains a lot of abuse and rape, and lots of naked flesh. Normally this wouldn’t be a negative, but this stuff should always be second to the story, and never the main course. I Spit On Your Grave has a lot of exploitative elements, so does Ms. 45, Pixote and a lot of pinku eiga films, but they all have great stories which make them better than they should be. But this doesn’t, and after a while it gets dull, and very boring. Skip it.
