Strip Nude For Your Killer

I love the Italian giallo movies, and since it’s been a while since I’ve reviewed any, I decided to take a dip into this one. The plot couldn’t be simpler: we start with a model dying in the abortion table. Time passes, and models, photographers, and people involved with a fashion company are all being murdered by a killer wearing a black leather jumpsuit and motorcycle helmet. It’s up to sleazy cameraman Carlo (Nino Castelnuovo) and pretty makeup artist Magda (Edwige Fenech) to solve who this murderer is before they also get butchered.
Andrea Bianchi was the director in this film, the director of such tasty cheeseburgers as Malabimba The Malicious Whore and Burial Ground: The Nights Of Terror, two of my favorite cheese-tastic films. It’s not as stylish as the films of Dario Argento, or as psychologically tormenting as the giallos of Sergio Martino. The murder scenes are all competently performed, and the murders themselves are very violent and bloody. Also, Bianchi is able to keep the mystery of the killer a secret in a great way, keeping me guessing all the way through. What makes the film memorable however, is how damn sleazy it is! This is one of the most sexually explicit, full-of-nudity giallos I’ve seen, and it’s cast is full of beauties. Edwige Fenech is one of my favorite European actresses, not just because she’s good, but because she’s so damn sexy and lacks all sorts of inhibitions when it comes to nudity. You might remember her from films like The Strange Vice Of Ms. Wardh and All The Colors Of The Dark, among others. She was always good at playing the leads, since she always kept you guessing whether she was good or not, with those chilly Asian-like eyes and pale marble skin. I love the clothes she wears here and she looks really hot with short hair. I worship Edwige Fenech! Also memorable is Femi Benussi, whose role might be short but very memorable, as she’s naked pretty much 95% of the time, and even her death scene, which lasts around three minutes, she is completely naked. This must be a record, at least until My Bloody Valentine 3D came out. The rest of the cast isn’t bad, but mostly not so memorable.
There are a lot of silly scenes in the film, however, that kind of spoiled the mood for me. For starters, the characters of the proprietor and the head of the company are so over the top they border on the cartoonish. The head of the company is a frustrated s&m dyke while the proprietor is a virgin fat guy who is desperate to have sex with the models, but starts crying whenever he gets too close. There is also a scene where the proprietor basically kidnaps a model and we’re with them in the car for minutes while he’s rambling on and on about wanting to take her someplace. This is giallo mystery that has memorable nudity, sleazy situations and gory death scenes which are balanced with good suspense scenes, even if it does have a lot of faults. Unlike Malabimba and Burial Ground: Nights of Terror, you don’t have to feel ashamed for enjoying it.
